Whether you are a complete newbie or looking to brush up your striptease skills, get ready to get intensive at Intro to Burlesque Bootcamp with April O’Peel. This three week class progressive is a terrific introduction into the glittery world of Neo Burlesque!
Join award winning instructor April O'Peel for a three week intensive in burlesque basics. Topics covered include an introduction to essential burlesque dance movements and striptease skills. Also covered are an introduction to classic burlesque props and act development—this bootcamp leaves no sequin unturned!
Classes to be held at Vancouver Burlesque Company at 739 Gore Ave in Chinatown. Please wear stretchy clothing suitable to dance in and indoor fitness shoes/or heels

Lyrical dance embodies aspects of technical dance like ballet with the freedom and musicality of jazz and contemporary. Veil Fans are a dramatic and beautiful prop for performance and can create show stopping moments and photos. Join April O’Peel on a 5 week progressive class series at Pandora Studios as we combine lyrical dance sensibilities with the drama of veil fans to create a ghostly group act! Classes will focus on veil fan and ballet techniques, turns and spins (both traveling and stationary) and musicality.
Admission requirements: Prepare for choreo! Students should have taken at least one previous burlesque/dance class, have mobility in shoulders and arms (does any lifting and raising arms cause pain? Maybe not this class), and have some familiarity with turns and “spotting.” You don’t need to be perfect at turns-we will practice!!!
Classes run from 7:15PM-8:45PM and will focus on learning a dark and dreamy choreography for a recital performance at The Rio Theatre Burlesque and Variety Show on Oct 12th! Class tuition includes one pair of veil fans for our recital costume/dance.
Costume Requirements: For our group performance, we are ghostly spectres haunting the Rio Stage! Required costume pieces for the recital will be a white bra/top and panty/ short bottom set and white panel skirt type situation. We’ll talk about it in class ;) Theme is Ghostly and Gorgeous! Class tuition includes one pair of white silk veil fans for our recital costume/dance.
